Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan

Welcome to the East Coast Region of Tourism Malaysia. The east coast region comprises the state of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. If you imagine yourself immerse in an idyllic setting of white sandy beaches and deep blue sea, the east coast region of Malaysia is where you must head out where you can find yourself an island surrounded by the azure waters of the South China Sea, or head inland to find yourself a pristine tropical rainforest and explore rare, exotic plants and towering trees.

Heading inland further you will climb up to the cool and invigorating hills resorts, or hang back a bit to the coastal villages and discover fascinating cultural pursuits. The East Coast Region of Peninsular Malaysia is where idyllic dreams can come true where you can relax and sit around all and day dream all day long on the wide white beautiful sandy beaches. The east coast region offers a lovely assemblage of nature, culture and laidback atmosphere.

Pahang is the most developed of the three states and also the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. Kuantan is the capital city and it is also home to many Petroleum companies who have offshore interest. Despite being the most developed state, it still has a very slow going pace as most east coast state do not have the hustle and bustle of busy city life like that of Kuala Lumpur. Pahang is also home to many hill resorts such as Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser's Hill. Where locals and foreigners alike flock to escape the heat of the tropics. Taman Negara, a 130-million year old rainforest, lies bordering with Kelantan and is one of the popular national parks one can do to explore the natural habitat of Malaysia. If you are feeling strong and adventurous you can do the 7 days return hike up to Mount Tahan and back again!

Terengganu sandwiched between Pahang and Kelantan boast many beautiful beaches. Though the travelling to this state is a distance, it is worth the time and effort as you will be well rewarding with the picturesque villages and beautiful sandy beaches. You can opt to stay in luxurious resorts or wind down and try the many affordable chalets dot along the coast of Terengganu.

Further north is Kelantan, bordering to Southern Thailand. They have a vibrant economy due to their very business minded people doing much economy with Southern Thai and coupled with the East-West Highway has made them a rather interesting state. They have very unique Malay language dialect which is special to this state. Visit their markets and explore fascinating culture of Kelantan that is unique in this area.

The east coast region also boast many beautiful Malaysia islands resorts. For sun seekers, head out to the popular islands of Tioman, Perhentian, Redang and Lang Tengah which offers exotic getaways and unforgettable undersea adventures. With the many marine parks, and scuba gear in hand, drop by and explore the exciting underwater world and swim with the fishes and explore the colorful corals!
