Sabah, Sarawak

Welcome to East Malaysia, where nature, adventure beckons you! Gear up for non-stop action! East Malaysia comprises two states: Sabah and Sarawak, plus a federal territory called Labuan. It is here in the east of Malaysia where you can find vast tracks of rainforest in the Borneo jungle. The deep hilly jungle is mostly unexplored as the terrain is very difficult to traverse. Even now, the best way to access the interiors is usually by small planes. And as for the natives, they still use the waterways and river to travel out from the interiors!

This region has vast track of rainforest. With its rich natural resources, many companies have exploited the forest for its good quality timber for export. Still there is much to explore with such vast expanses of rainforest, mist-capped mountains and majestic UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Kinabalu Park and Gunung Mulu National Park. In the untouched wilderness, innumerable varieties of plants flourish together with a wide range of birds and animals.

Sabah is located at the northern side of Borneo and it is home to the highest mountain peak in South-East Asia, Mount Kinabalu. This is a very popular destination for many tourist as it is also one of the easier mountain hiking activity and visitors can boast in achieving the feat of climbing the highest mountain in Malaysia and South-East Asia!

If fighting gravity is not your kind of activity, you can relax in the numerous islands around Sabah, one of the famous one is the Sipadan island, internationally famous for its dive site and one of Sabah world-famous attractions!

As for Sarawak, this is the largest state in Malaysia, and holds many fascinating culture. Visit Kuching, the town of cats! The town is name after the popular feline and you could find many statues acknowledging the origin of Kuching name. And do visit the cat museum to find out more about the feline friend! If culture is more your thing, then visit the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong!
